Thanks to the winner-take-all, individualistic viewpoint of modern capitalism, consumption is usually far from scrumptious. But, as with most things in the age of digital distribution, it's often better when done together.

"What's Mine is Yours. The Rise of Collaborative Consumption" is a new book, coming out in September, exploring the rise of new models that are disrupting business as usual. From enormous marketplaces (eBay and Craigslist) to emerging sectors like social lending (Zopa) and car sharing (Zipcar), the book takes a look at new platforms that are making "peer-to-peer" the default way in which people exchange—whether it’s unused space, goods, skills, money, or services.

Spearheaded by innovation thinker Rachel Botsman, it’s a celebration of the future of sharing, bartering, lending, trading, renting, gifting and swapping we all love -- happening every day, all over the world -- and the redefinition of these concepts through technology.

The book goes beyond words on paper. It provides access to a collaborative hub, where the authors will be providing resources, stories, infographics, and tools to fuel the movement; these are paired with forums where you can discuss and spread your deliciously innovative ideas on consumption. Yum.
