Activating Empathy!

Transforming schools to teach what matters Wednesday, January 25th

When we were kids, grade school meant mastering the ABCs and conquering our times tables. But in a world of rapid change, the ability to understand others is vital for a new generation of changemakers. Maybe we oughta rethink that lesson plan?

Ashoka's Activating Empathy! initiative just launched as a global effort to find the best programs that empower our students to work collaboratively and embrace diversity. Now more than ever, empathy is a necessary skill for successful, empowered young people. And with over $70,000 in prize money, you're invited to submit your ideas for a curriculum of champions or even nominate a program that’s already trailblazing.

As the folks at Ashoka say, “Empathy is about standing up, not standing by.” Whether that's in the classroom or in the boardroom, talk about an A+ idea.
